World hails killing of bin Laden
World leaders yesterday welcomed the killing of Osama bin Laden but warned that the long war against terrorism is far from over and that Al Qaeda could strike back with renewed force.
President Barack Obama said “justice has been done” as he announced the killing by US special forces of the world’s most wanted man, while his predecessor George W Bush hailed it as a “momentous” achievement.

Kuwait pledges $500mn for East Sudan projects
Kuwait led the way at an international donor conference for East Sudan with a pledge of $500mn in aid for projects there.
The conference for East Sudan opened yesterday morning in Kuwait City.
Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohamed al-Sabah told the opening session: “I am pleased to announce the donation of the State of Kuwait of $500mn for east Sudan development.”
